The Year Of The Pioneer!

It’s the year 2022 and we have access to just about anything our minds can fathom. Do you want to learn how to do something? I’m sure you can find the “how-to” on “Youtube-University.” Looking for tools to create something? Search through the billions of products Amazon offers. Need to fix something? Sites like iFixit will walk you through a step-by-step guide AND provide a tool kit to utilize. In the United States at least, you can essentially learn how to create anything from scratch with the proper discipline.

We have covered several entrepreneurs that have found solutions to issues plaguing the DJ community. Some products are digital apps while others are physical tools that can be used on a daily basis. In every case, the individual had a vision, created a plan, built a team to help them execute the plan, and took the leap of faith in something they believe in.

When streaming became a way of life for DJs, DJ Boxxy Brown developed a solution for DJs that don’t have access to an external audio interface such as an iRig (which quickly sold out during the start of the pandemic). In addition to Spinstream, he also developed a system to manage and monetize requests with SpinfluencIt which will be covered in a later article.

Cflo has created practical apps in Stemverter 2, an app that converts songs on your MAC into an instrumental or acapella version, and 3Vise which fixes corrupt MP3 files. Yes, you can achieve the former feature in DJ apps such as Virtual DJ, however, you then have to commit to using only Virtual DJ.

DJ Stress is the cofounder of Orbits JetPack DJ bags which has been a trailblazer when it comes to functional DJ bag solutions. Darrel Frater also saw an opportunity to help DJs reach paying audiences by developing The Club. Jesse Dean has a one-stop-shop for all your custom turntablist needs; everything from portable faders to tone-arms for the Rane One.

If you have an idea, write it up and plan it out. From there, it’s about locating the materials and resources you need to turn your idea into a tangible product or service. Sites like Fiverr allow you to hire anyone with skill. You can find someone to create your website, logo, app, and more exactly to your liking. If you are not interested in paying someone, you can learn how to do it yourself via Youtube or if you want a more academic environment you can try Coursera or the many other complementary programs they have available online. If it doesn’t exist, make it exist.
