MYST SHANGHAI

When Myst books headline DJs they don’t do it by halves, they go hell for leather! Last July it was Fatboy Slim that took a Thursday night there to some kind of next level enormity. Skrillex, Armin van Burren, Diplo, Zedd and Nicky Romero have also all flown in and sprinkled their magic dust over the eager, up-for-it crowd that gathers. And this January just past, DJMag’s very own Adam Saville smashed it there too. On all occasions it’s their residents either DJ L, TANK or Pink that have warmed up and set the pace at this, one of China’s most iconic of clubs.

To give you some sense of the layout, Myst has two main rooms, downstairs is the lounge with a more chilled, laidback kind of vibe, and scattered about there are an impressive seven private rooms to keep their VIPs happy. Up-and-coming local Chinese talent have a platform here to showcase themselves to the growing scene in Shanghai. Which can only be a good thing. 2016 saw a rise in the popularity of trap music within the industry in China and their forthcoming line-ups will reflect this, or is it the ‘three-dimensional mirror walls’?
