Planet Dance: the clue is in the title with Mallorca’s most famous dance venue. And with three floors, three rooms, 15 bars and a capacity to fit 7,000 clubbers, it genuinely is in a world of its own.
Purpose built as a superclub in 1988, BCM is a year off its 30th birthday but remains as innovative as ever, with annual décor refreshes on all three rooms and the most up-to-date tech, such as the 65,000w Funktion One system, festival-level lighting and special effects.
DJ-wise it’s quicker to list the A-list DJs who haven’t played BCM in recent years. Premiership headliners to perform at one of the venue’s regular parties such as Cream, Danny Howard’s Nothing Else Matters, MTV, Mistajam’s Speakerbox, DJ Sammy’s Supermartxe include… Deadmau5, Skrillex, Hardwell, Martin Garrix, Above & Beyond, Calvin Harris, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Steve Angello, Chase & Status, Loco Dice. Even Snoop Dogg has performed there as DJ Snoopadelic.
Adding a real legitimacy to Magaluf’s gradually shifting reputation as a holiday destination for real music lovers, BCM has flown the flag like no other in Mallorca. And as it gears up to its 30th year, you get the impression the plan is to expand even more.
