veryone has them, wishing they could trade them in for their one missing sock. Duplicate files seem to come out of nowhere and can quickly pile up, clogging libraries and slowing down computers. Don’t let the duplicates take you down! There is a quick and easy way to locate and delete them from your music library.

ITunes is great for sorting music, and has another powerful tool tucked away as well. If you haven’t already, dump all of your music into iTunes (this may be a pain now, but will save you a lot of time later) .

Open up your iTunes and go to “File”. From there click on “Library” and select “Show Duplicate Items”. This will literally show all of the duplicate media files you have. From there, select one of the duplicates, left-click and select “Delete From Library”. A prompt will appear and will ask you whether you are sure you want to delete the file from your iTunes Library. Select “Delete Song”. One more prompt will appear; this is the important one, asking you if you want to keep the file or move it to the trash. Select “Move to trash” and boom! So long duplicates! Make sure to empty your trash as always so those duplicates don’t try to stick around. Throw on your latest favorite record or album and delete away! Helpful Tip: Try to delete the duplicates with bad audio quality! You will thank us later.
